    What's the story

A Delhi-based doctor and his two companions were arrested on Wednesday night for running a sex determination racket at the Delhi-Haryana border.

The racket was being conducted inside Narela-based Dr. Subhash Jain's car in a secluded forest area.

His associates were Vinod Kumar of Nangal Kalan and Manoj Kumar of Sonepat.

All were arrested after a raid by the health department and Sonepat police.

    Details

Pregnant woman used as decoy to catch trio

Police used a pregnant woman as a decoy to nab the trio. Deputy civil surgeon Dr. Adarsh Sharma prepared and attested her reports.

After she approached the trio, they asked her to pay Rs. 30,000 for their service.

The woman reached Ram Devi Chowk in Narela Wednesday evening as instructed by the accused, from where Manoj collected the money from her.

    Trap laid

USG machine used for procedure, battery and generator seized

She was then driven to a forest area in Sersa village of Sonepat.

After a while, Dr. Jain arrived and asked her to shift into his car.

The police, along with health department officials who were following them, caught the trio just as the doctor was to start the procedure.

Cops seized an ultrasonography machine, battery and a generator from Jain's car.

    In custody

Dr. Jain had already pocketed Rs. 20,000 as his share

By the time they were arrested, Dr. Jain had already received Rs. 20,000 as his share.

The accused were booked under Sections 3, 4, 5, 6 and 23 of PC and PNDT Act and section 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.

They were produced in court and have been taken into custody to know more about their operation.
