Delhi man chases phone snatcher onto tracks, crushed by train

A 22-year-old man was killed after a train ran him over at Shahdara railway station in northeast Delhi on Friday evening. The victim, identified as Rohit Kumar, was chasing a mobile phone snatcher when the incident occurred, after he failed to notice an oncoming train, according to India Today. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) control room alerted the Old Delhi Railway Station police station around 4:55pm about the accident on Platform 3 of Shahdara station.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Kumar's mobile phone was allegedly snatched on Platform 3 of the station. In his attempt to chase the thief, he failed to notice the approaching 15035 Delhi-Kathgodam Express train. The train ran over him, resulting in his death. A police team reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and called the crime and forensic science laboratory units for further investigation.

Police reviewing CCTV footage to identify suspect
After the incident, Kumar's body was sent to Aruna Asaf Ali Hospital in Delhi for a medico-legal case and preservation. The police are now reviewing CCTV footage from the railway station to identify the suspect who allegedly snatched Kumar's phone. A case of snatching has been registered in connection with this incident, and further proceedings are underway.
