Love thrillers? Here are the 5 best TV-shows for you

Indian television shows had some great content earlier, not so much now, but they never offered a lot in the thriller genre. And audiences love thrillers - the cliffhangers, puzzles, and the mysteries add excitement to the life at the end of a mundane day. While there are many shows delivering thrill, we have listed the 5 best for you.

Tony Soprano, a good mobster, a better human being

'The Sopranos' aired on HBO from 1999 to 2007. The show ushered in a new age in television as David Chase brought cinematic flawlessness to the screen. The thrill of watching a mob-boss balance family and work drew audiences initially. But the masterful portrayal of a humane, anxiety-ridden man left them amazed in this crime thriller. The enigmatic ending still has the audiences talking.

High-school chemistry teacher turns meth-kingpin, delivers television's best show

'Breaking Bad' aired on AMC from 2008 to 2013, and audiences loved the thrill of watching the helpless cancer-ridden chemistry teacher turn into the largest meth kingpin. The epic tragedy of Walter White as he went down the dark path to his own destruction was helped by brilliant character development and a flawless plotline, making this the best thriller to have graced our television.

It's elementary dear reader, Benedict Cumberbatch is exceptional

'Sherlock' aired on BBC in 2010. A modern-day adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's greatest detective, Holmes and Watson were brought to 21st century London. The brilliant deduction process and the storytelling were particularly amazing. Show-makers Gatiss and Moffat took it a step further by keeping the audience guessing about how Sherlock faked his death. And who better than Benedict Cumberbatch, you guys!

The street gang culture of Birmingham made for great thriller

'Peaky Blinders' aired on BBC Two in 2013. The show grabbed eyeballs with the set design depicting Birmingham in the 1920s. The Shelby family was shown as the formal street gang that ran the town. Audiences soon fell in love with the gritty tale and it garnered a large following. The problems the Shelby family encountered in their quest to expand their business was gripping.

The dangers of the human mind explored in fantastic tale

'True Detective' aired on HBO in 2014. Nic Pizzolatto's anthology spun for two seasons and the first was the clear winner. The story of Rust Cohle, a nihilist detective who spoke of philosophy and tracked a serial killer in Louisiana, drew thriller-addicts and intellectuals. The second season showed political cover-up. Both the seasons thrilled the audience by showing them the worst of human nature.
