Aarey Forest to host 1st-ever music festival in December

Entertainment

Mumbai's Aarey Forest is getting its first-ever music festival from December 12-14 at the open-air amphitheater in Unit 5, Aarey Milk Colony.
Running daily from 8am to 9pm this three-day event celebrates both the ecological and cultural roots of the forest with a lively mix of performances and activities.

What's happening?

You'll catch everything from hip hop and Indian-Western folk fusion to Warli songs, Mohiniattam, and traditional tarpa dance.
Unique instruments like the Warli tarpa horn and nadaswaram will be featured.
There are also hands-on workshops—think origami, mural painting, board games—and vibrant murals blending city vibes with adivasi art.

Why does it matter?

Organized by locals, artists, NGOs, and activists, the festival shines a light on Aarey as more than just green space—it's home to adivasi and Tamil-speaking communities with rich traditions.
Entry is free (donations welcome), making it an open invitation for everyone to experience Mumbai's urban forest culture up close.
