While some reports claim Bhatt has been roped in for a new role, others suggest she might play Goddess Vaishno Devi. The goddess is considered one of the immortal beings (chiranjeevis) of Kalyuga, protecting Sumathi and her unborn child. Recently, amid the growing speculation, director Ashwin said, "We need to announce who plays the Sumathi character in Kalki 2. As of now, everything is speculation only."
