Alia Bhatt to join 'Drishyam 2' director's next project?

Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt is reportedly set to star in a new film titled Housewife, directed by Abhishek Pathak, who previously helmed Drishyam 2. The movie is described as a "high-concept relationship drama" focusing on a married couple, according to Variety India. Rajkummar Rao is being considered for the male lead role, although he has not yet been officially signed on.

Bhatt to co-produce 'Housewife'
In addition to her acting role, Bhatt will also co-produce Housewife under her banner, Eternal Sunshine Productions. The production will be a joint venture with Pathak's Panorama Studios. The movie is expected to begin filming around August-September 2026, after Pathak wraps up Drishyam 3, the final installment of the Ajay Devgn-led family thriller franchise Drishyam.

Bhatt has a busy schedule ahead. She will be seen as a super spy in Yash Raj Films's first female-led espionage thriller, Alpha. This will be followed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali's period romance Love & War, co-starring Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. The film is reportedly inspired by Sangam (1964). Additionally, she is also in talks for several other projects for 2027, including Maddock Films's horror-comedy Chamunda.

On the other hand, Rao has two Netflix films and a biopic of Ujjwal Nikam in the pipeline for this year. He is also said to be collaborating with Manoj Bajpayee on a film directed by Shoojit Sircar. If he signs on for Housewife, it will be his first collaboration with Bhatt.
