The film follows Reverend Jud Duplenticy, a former boxing champion turned priest, who is sent to a troubled rural ministry after a fight at his previous parish. There, he finds Monsignor Jefferson Wicks, a church leader disliked by the community due to his connection to a rumored inheritance. The plot thickens when Wicks is found dead on Good Friday with a weapon seemingly connected to Jud.

The film features Craig as Blanc, Josh O'Connor as Reverend Duplenticy, and Josh Brolin as Wicks. The film had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6, followed by a limited theatrical release on November 26.
