Filmfare Awards South: Nani, Siddharth, Mammootty among winners
The 69th SOBHA Filmfare Awards South, a prestigious event celebrating the best of Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada cinema from the past year, took place in Hyderabad on Saturday. The ceremony was hosted by actors Sundeep Kishan and Faria Abdullah and witnessed the presence of several A-listers from the South Indian film industry. Tamil: 'Chithha' swept the awards
The Tamil film Chithha bagged the award for Best Film, with its director, SU Arun Kumar, winning the Best Director award. Nimisha Sajayan and Siddharth were recognized for their performances in Chithha, winning Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female) and Best Actor Critics awards respectively. Anjali Nair won Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Female), while Dhibu Ninan Thomas and Santosh Narayanan clinched the award for Best Music Album. "Chiyaan" Vikram clinched Best Actor for PS II.
'Dasara' and 'Balagam' triumph in Telugu category
In the Telugu category, Balagam was named Best Film with its director, Venu Yeldandi, winning the Best Director award. Nani and Keerthy Suresh won Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) and (Female) respectively for Dasara. It also clinched awards for Best Cinematography by Sathyan Sooryan, Best Production Design by Kolla Avinash, and Best Choreography by Prem Rakshith. Best Debut Director was won by Shouryuv for Hi Nanna, while Naveen Polishetty won Best Actor (Critics) for Miss Shetty, Mr Polishetty.
Kannada and Malayalam: '2018,' Jyotika, Mammootty win the Black lady
Daredevil Musthafa was awarded Best Film in the Kannada category, with Sapta Sagaradaache Ello director Hemanth M Rao winning Best Director. Rakshit Shetty and Siri Ravikumar won Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) and (Female) respectively for their performances in Sapta Sagaradaache Ello. In the Malayalam category, 2018 won Best Film, with its director Jude Anthany Joseph also winning Best Director. Mammootty and Jyotika were recognized for their performances in Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam and Kaathal, respectively.
