Ameesha Patel's mother's ₹5L diamond bangles stolen, house help arrested
What's the story
Asha Patel, the mother of Bollywood actor Ameesha Patel, has been a victim of theft. In January, diamond-studded bangles worth ₹5 lakh were stolen from her residence. The family's 40-year-old house help, Seema Vinod Ghate, has now been arrested in connection with the case, Free Press Journal reported. She has been working at Patel's house for almost one and a half years.
Investigation initiated
Patel had a suspicion that Ghate was involved
After the bangles went missing, Patel had a suspicion that Ghate was involved in the theft.
She repeatedly questioned her, but after Ghate denied all allegations, Patel approached Marine Drive Police and lodged a complaint.
An FIR was registered under Section 306 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Arrest details
Ghate has been arrested
The Crime Detection Team, led by Senior Police Inspector Jitendra Kadam and Police Inspector Vhatkar, investigated the case and traced Ghate to Virar.
She was arrested and produced before the court, which sent her to police custody till September 15.
The Marine Drive Police Crime Detection Team, Assistant Police Inspector Pradeep Chaudhary, is probing the case.
They are trying to recover the stolen jewelry and are also checking if Ghate has any previous criminal record.
