Amitabh, Abhishek to lead 'Sarkar 4'? Here's what we know
What's the story
The much-loved Sarkar franchise is set to return with a fourth installment, reported PeepingMoon. The film will see Amitabh Bachchan reprise his role as Subhash Nagre and Abhishek Bachchan returning as Shankar Nagre. To recall, the latter's character was killed in a bomb blast in Sarkar Raj (2008), but the makers have now found a way to bring him back for the next movie.
Film updates
Script currently being written; production to begin in early 2026
The script for Sarkar 4 is currently being written, with plans to begin production in the first half of 2026. A source told PeepingMoon, "Amitabh and Abhishek were jointly narrated the basic plotline and have liked it. They've verbally given their approval to move forward." Director Ram Gopal Varma, who was initially reluctant to continue the franchise, has also agreed to direct this new story.
Production history
Aditya Roy Kapur was earlier considered for parallel lead role
The production of Sarkar 4 has been a long process, with discussions about a parallel lead role for Aditya Roy Kapur last year. However, that version was later scrapped. The makers have since focused on bringing back Abhishek, and it now seems they have locked in a storyline strong enough to revamp the franchise. An official confirmation from the makers is awaited.
