Amitabh Bachchan undergoes second eye surgery, is recovering well

Actor Amitabh Bachchan announced on Sunday that he has undergone another eye surgery. This is his second surgery, with the first operation taking place in February-end. The veteran actor informed his social media followers that he is recovering. He also thanked doctors and praised medical technology. Earlier, the 78-year-old had written that "the sight and the recovery" were "slow and difficult".

Bachchan took to his Twitter handle to share the news of the second operation. He praised the marvels of medical technology and the dexterity of the hands of Dr. Himanshu Mehta, the doctor who operated on him. "You see now what you were not seeing before," he tweeted. The tweet garnered nearly 4,000 likes at the time of publishing.

The actor had the first operation in February

On February 27, Bachchan had given a vague update on his health. In his blog, the actor later detailed that he had gone under the knife. "There is yet another eye to go .. so its a long haul .. hoping of course that it all gets well in time for my schedule which begins in a few, (sic)" he had written.

He has a release next month

Despite the twin surgeries, the megastar is not taking a break from work. Today, he shared a character poster from his upcoming movie Chehre. In the latest poster, he was seen with a long beard. He announced that the trailer of Chehre will be launched on March 18. Directed by Rumi Jaffery, the movie also stars Emraan Hashmi and Annu Kapoor in key roles.

While Chehre will hit the big screens on April 9, his long-awaited project Jhund is set to be released on June 18. He is also involved with Mayday, actor Ajay Devgn's directorial venture. Other movies in his kitty include Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra, starring off-screen couple Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, and the yet-untitled film featuring actors Prabhas and Deepika Padukone.
