Bombay High Court clears 'Laxmi vs Saraswati' execs after 12 years
Entertainment
After more than a decade, the Bombay High Court has quashed the FIR against Star Entertainment Media's programming heads over a controversial dialogue in the Marathi show Laxmi versus Saraswati.
The case started back in 2013 when a viewer filed a complaint about an episode that allegedly used casteist language against the Mahar community.
No proof execs were responsible, says court
On December 23, 2025, the judges said there was no solid evidence tying the executives to that dialogue.
They also pointed out that legal rules weren't fully met—like proving whether the accused weren't from a Scheduled Caste or Tribe.
Plus, since the channel had already put out a disclaimer distancing itself from characters' views, the court decided it wouldn't be fair to hold them liable.
