'BRO CODE' trademark drama: Ravi Mohan vs Indospirit
According to a statement by Ravi Mohan Studios, Indospirit Beverages sued them for trademark infringement after the studio refused to promote the BRO CODE drink in their new movie, Bro Code.
Indospirit claims the film's title copies their registered brand and could confuse people.
What's the backstory?
Mohan's studio argues they registered the film title first and even got an initial green light from the Madras High Court.
But things flipped on October 14, 2024, when the Delhi High Court put a pause on using or promoting Bro Code, citing concerns it might dilute Indospirit's brand.
Where does it stand now?
The next court hearing is set for December 23, 2024, so nothing's settled yet.
Meanwhile, Mohan is still working on Bro Code with director Karthik Yogi and stars Arjun Ashokan, SJ Suryah, and Shraddha Srinath.
