#ComicBytes: Is Vision the most powerful Avenger?

    What's the story

Vision has been portrayed in the movies as one of the most powerful Avengers, despite suffering a defeat at the hands of Thanos.

In the comics, Vision was created by Ultron but overcame his programming to join the Avengers.

Despite seeing Vision in films, fans might not know the extent of Vision's power.

Here are five powers that make Vision the strongest Avenger.

    Materialization

    Growing out of another being

Vision can control the density of his body which gives him the ability to phase during battle.

One of the best uses of this ability is when Vision materializes partially inside the enemy body. In theory, a complete materialization would cause the enemy to burst, effectively killing them.

However, Vision only uses partial materialization which leads to enemies being shocked into unconsciousness.

    Repairing powers

    Heal yourself, keep yourself going

Unlike any of the other Avengers, Vision has the ability to repair himself.

In comics, he has been badly damaged a couple of times, once notably when She-Hulk tore him in half.

Both Vision's scientific understanding of his anatomy and the ability to heal allow him to regenerate himself.

Notably, this power virtually makes him immortal and gives him the ability to replicate himself.

    Nanobots

    An entire body of weaponry

Vision's constant ability to upgrade himself has recently led to his body being made entirely of nanobots.

Viewers of 'Avengers: Infinity War' will remember how Tony Stark used the nanobots in his Iron Man armor to heal himself.

Vision is capable of more since his entire body is powered by nanotech. He can conjure any weapon using his body parts and instantly heal himself.

    Technology manipulation

Talking to technology at fundamental levels

Vision is an android primarily, which gives him the ability to decode technology instantly.

Thus he can manipulate all technology including alien technology to some extent.

In a world where tech controls everything, Vision's ability to instantly hack systems makes him one of the most valuable assets to Avengers, since he understands tech at a base level simply by coming into contact with it.

    Solar energy

Channeling the power of the sun

The Avengers movies took a few liberties in their comic adaptations and made Vision's gem an Infinity Stone.

However, in comics, he dons the Solar Jewel which gives him the ability to channel solar energy which is responsible for various abilities including emitting infrared and microwave blasts from his eyes.

Notably, he can also channel an extremely destructive beam through the Solar Jewel itself.
