"Early this morning Gil - my soulmate - lost his fight with a rare and viciously aggressive form of cancer," she wrote.

Gerard was best known for his role as Captain William "Buck" Rogers in the NBC series Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. The show, produced by Glen A. Larson, aired for two seasons and was preceded by a theatrical film released in 1979 that served as the series' pilot. Following this, Gerard starred in CBS's E.A.R.T.H. Force (1990) and for a little while on Days of Our Lives in 1997. More recently, he acted in The Nice Guys.
