What's the story

Hollywood actress Glenn Close appeared at a recent awards show and brought along an adorable date- her dog. Named Sir Pippin of Beanfield and commonly known as Pip, he stole the thunder when he accompanied Glenn to the Independent Spirits Award in Santa Monica. Further, Pip 'escorted' Glenn to the stage when she received an award for her role in The Wife.

Details

Pip followed Glenn obediently on stage after she beckoned him

At the awards ceremony, Glenn bagged the Best Female Lead award for her performance in The Wife. Initially, as Glenn was walking towards the stage, Pip remained behind her, but then started following her obediently after she signaled him to come along. "Hope you don't mind that Pippy came up with me, he's my date," the 71-year-old actress quipped.

Moments

Pip crosses behind Glenn to stand by her

Soon after Glenn began her speech saying, "I am so honored to be here," she couldn't stop getting joyfully distracted by her dog who kept looking at her with those endearing eyes. He then made his fluffy walk to cross behind the actress and stood by her on the other side of the podium. Amused by that, Glenn commented, "What's better than that?"

Star-struck?

Pip flaunts his rolling skills as Glenn makes her speech

Glenn, in her speech, mentioned how empowered she feels with other women in the film industry. Meanwhile, probably feeling like a star being on stage, little Pippy decided to show off his 'rolling on the floor' skills, stealing the attention from Glenn. However, Glenn didn't mind a bit and said, "I brought him up for this very reason...it's called 'in the moment'."

Quote

Glenn brought Pip because she wanted company at new place

When asked why she brought Pip to the awards show, Glenn told media, "It's a long day away from him and I'm not from here...I wasn't too sure what the deal would be where I'm staying. So I said, 'Well, he'll just come with me'."

Relationship

Pip is the 'most intelligent dog' Glenn has ever seen

Glenn adopted Pip when he was seven-weeks-old and the delightful dog is nearly four-year-old now. The actress said the charming canine was "the most intelligent dog I've ever had." "I've had dogs my whole life. This dog, I know his language...He's funny and he's comforting," she said. And like every loyal dog, Glenn said Pip "goes with me pretty much everywhere."
