Shahid Kapoor is one actor who goes to incredible lengths to prepare for his roles. Here's what the actor did to prepare for his role in the upcoming Kabir Singh.

Preparation

Shahid met real-life doctors to prepare for role as surgeon

Reportedly, Shahid met and spent a lot of time with real-life surgeons in Mumbai, in order to learn and adapt to their mannerisms and behavior. "Kabir Singh is an accomplished surgeon - perhaps the best in his field. So the mannerisms and actions needed to be precise. Interacting with experts gave me a deeper understanding of the craft," reveals Shahid.

Earlier, Shahid confessed to smoking 20 cigarettes daily for role

Earlier, in an interview, Shahid confessed that at one time during shooting, he used to smoke 20 cigarettes everyday for his role as a drug-addict medical student and surgeon. He'd then bathe for about two hours before returning back home to his wife and kids.

Transformation

Shahid also underwent dramatic physical transformation

If you thought that's a lot of preparation, you are in for more surprise. Shahid, who plays the character across different time frames of his life, had to go through dramatic physical transformation as well. Reportedly, the Haider actor first gained around 8 Kgs for his bloated appearance as an alcoholic, and later lost 14 Kgs for his portrayal of a younger medical student.

'Kabir Singh' is set to release on June 21, 2019

Written and directed by Sandeep Vanga, Kabir Singh is a remake of Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy (2017) starring Vijay Deverakonda. Featuring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani in lead roles, the film's story revolves around an alcoholic and drug-addict medical student/surgeon who takes on a self-destructive path after his ex-lover marries someone else. The much-awaited film will hit the screens on June 21, 2019.
