Uncle Aamir's Netflix film might mark Imran Khan's acting comeback
Imran Khan, who has been away from the big screen for nine years now, is set to make a comeback with a Netflix film produced by his uncle, Aamir Khan. The actor had been hinting at his return since last August and has now found the perfect script to end his acting hiatus. Per reports, the film is a romantic comedy directed by Danish Aslam, who previously worked with Imran on the 2010 comedy Break Ke Baad.
Film details: A lighthearted, breezy entertainer
The yet-to-be-titled film is a lighthearted, breezy entertainer that will showcase Imran in a role that audiences have always loved, reported PeepingMoon. The project is the first OTT venture by Aamir Khan Productions and the first to be greenlit under the leadership of the company's newly appointed CEO, Aparna Purohit. The film is being produced in partnership with Open Air Films, a content company behind Netflix projects like Leila and Cobalt Blue.
Imran's career comes full circle with Aamir
Imran's career has come full circle as he begins the second phase of his career with his maternal uncle, Aamir. Aamir had launched Imran into movies, first as a child actor in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988) and later as the leading man in Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na (2008). The duo later collaborated on the black comedy Delhi Belly (2011), which remains one of Imran's most notable films.
Imran's previous web series project fell through
Imran had initially planned to make his comeback with a web series by Abbas Tyrewala. He was supposed to play an intelligence officer in a Disney+ Hotstar espionage thriller set in the world of South Asian counterintelligence. However, the project was put on hold due to the merger between Reliance Industries and The Walt Disney Company. Imran later expressed relief at the cancelation, stating that he does not want to play a character who solves problems with a gun.
