Currently going through the toughest phase of his life, Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan was honored with the Best Actor - Male trophy for 'Hindi Medium' at the recently concluded International Indian Film Awards (IIFA) 2018. He, however, could not be there to receive the award himself as he is in London for his treatment, but posted a heartfelt thank-you message on Twitter.

'Hindi Medium' was a success story at the box office
Known for his accurate sense of scripts, Irrfan had delivered yet another enthralling film in the form of 'Hindi Medium', last year. Directed by Saket Chaudhary, it did a business of over Rs. 60 crore the box office. Besides Irrfan, 'Hindi Medium' also featured Pakistani actor Saba Qamar and Deepak Dobriyal in pivotal roles.

Competing with Irrfan for the Best Actor trophy were Akshay Kumar for 'Toilet - Ek Prem Katha', Ranbir Kapoor for 'Jagga Jasoos', Rajkummar Rao for 'Newton' and Adil Hussain for 'Mukti Bhawan'. The Best Actor - Female award went to late Bollywood legend Sridevi for her exceptional performance in 'Mom'.

Meanwhile, Irrfan is battling cancer in London
The 51-year-old actor was diagnosed with Neuroendocrine Tumour earlier this year. He, along with his family, then moved to London for his treatment. Lately, positive updates have come in regarding his health and we pray that he recovers really soon.
