John's 'Satyameva Jayate 2' will clash with Salman's 'Radhe'
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, who has reserved the Eid holiday for his releases, will clash with actor John Abraham this year at the box office. Today, the makers of Satyameva Jayate 2 announced that the movie will release on May 13, 2021, a day earlier than planned. It will now lock horns with Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai, Salman's much-awaited movie.
Poor reviews hadn't deterred 'Satyameva Jayate' from minting money
Satyameva Jayate 2 is the sequel to the 2018 release Satyameva Jayate, also starring John. Seasoned actor Manoj Bajpayee was also a part of the movie. The movie told the story of Veer (John) who murdered corrupt cops by setting them on fire. Though the movie received poor reviews from critics, it went on to become one of the highest-earning films of 2018.
This time, John will fight corruption in Lucknow
Seemingly, both the movies aren't linked with each other. While the first movie was set in Mumbai, Satyameva Jayate 2 has Lucknow as its backdrop. Moreover, John will be seen essaying two characters — Satya and Jay. The actor described his characters as "sons of India." The movie also stars Divya Khosla Kumar. It has been produced by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series and Emmay Entertainment.

Earlier, speaking on theatrical releases, co-producer Monisha Advani had told IE, "The resumption of theaters is also a testimony to the consumer demand for this form of content, as well as the collective resilience of theatre owners, studios, and filmmakers." To note, Satyameva Jayate 2 was one of the first movies to be shot after curbs related to coronavirus were eased.
Looking forward to bringing back era of clapping, cheering: SKF
Earlier, as he announced the release date of Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai, Salman had said that he is honoring the commitment. The movie has been helmed by Prabhu Deva, who had also directed Salman's 2008 release Wanted. "We are looking forward to bringing back the era of clapping, cheering, whistling and the house-full boards Salman Khan's movies are known for," a spokesperson for Salman Khan Films had said.
