The plot of Devara, which translates to "God of the Sun," reportedly revolves around forgotten coastal lands used for smuggling.

Recent update: 'Devara: Part 1' song 'Chuttamalle' stirred controversy
The film's music composer, Anirudh Ravichander, was recently accused of plagiarizing the song Chuttamalle from the Sri Lankan hit Manike Mage Hithe. The original composer, Chamath Sangeeth, responded to these allegations by stating that she admires Anirudh's music and is pleased to see him drawing inspiration from her work. She further suggested that the songs in Devara might be tributes to other tracks.
