Justin Baldoni's lawyer explains why they didn't amend complaint

Entertainment

Justin Baldoni's lawyer, Bryan Freedman, says they didn't miss any deadlines.
After a judge tossed out Baldoni's $400 million lawsuit against Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, their publicist, and The New York Times, Freedman explained they chose not to amend the complaint so they could keep their right to appeal.

Lawsuit was a response to Lively's original lawsuit

This legal drama started back in December 2024 when Lively sued Baldoni for sexual harassment and running a smear campaign tied to their movie "It Ends with Us."
Baldoni fired back with his own lawsuit for defamation and invasion of privacy, but that got dismissed under legal provisions meant to protect people who report harassment.

Baldoni still has to face Lively's claims in court

Even though Baldoni's countersuit is out, he still has to face Lively's original claims in court.
The trial is set for March.
