Kangana undergoes "suffocating" prosthetic session for Jayalalithaa's biopic, 'Thalaivi'
Kangana Ranaut is all set for her upcoming project, a political biopic, Thalaivi. The movie will chronicle the life of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, and Kangana will be playing the titular role. And if recent reports are to be believed, the actress has already begun her preparations to get into Jayalalithaa's shoes, and is undergoing extensive prosthetic measurements for the movie.
It is not easy to be an actor: Kangana's sister
To note, Kangana has recently flown to Los Angeles, US, to initiate the process for her prosthetic look. Her sister Rangoli Chandel also shared pictures of the actress undergoing the measurements. In the pictures, Kangana is seen completely covered with prosthetic glue that's required for the test. "This is how measurements for prosthetics are taken, it's not easy to be an actor," Rangoli admitted.
So suffocating for us to even watch, writes Rangoli
Jason Collins, of 'Captain Marvel' fame, to work on 'Thalaivi'
Notably, Thalaivi makers have roped in renowned Hollywood artist, Jason Collins to work on Kangana's look. For the uninitiated, Jason is known for his work in movies like Blade Runner and Captain Marvel. He had created prosthesis for Brie Larson in Captain Marvel.
Kangana to also learn Bharatnatyam, Tamil for 'Thalaivi'
Keeping in line with her knack for perfection, Kangana will also be learning Bharatnatyam and Tamil to maintain the authenticity of her character in Thalaivi. Lauding the late politician, the actress said that she "sees parallels with my own journey in hers." "But her success story is much bigger than mine. I could see myself doing the part because it came naturally to me."
Kangana's fees for Jayalalithaa biopic is a landmark deal
Meanwhile, Thalaivi might prove to be a landmark deal for Kangana's career, if reports are to be believed. That's because she would, apparently, be paid Rs. 24cr, making her India's highest-paid female actor. "Kangana is being paid to the tune of Rs. 24cr for the project. The makers are sure that her star-power will help reach a pan-India audience," a source said.
Jayalalithaa's biopic to be released in Hindi and Tamil
Notably, the film will release in Hindi and Tamil, and will be helmed by Tamil filmmaker AL Vijay, known for Deiva Thirumagal, Madrasapattinam, Thaandavam, etc. Citing it as a big opportunity, Vijay is ecstatic about the movie, and is also excited working with Kangana. "Making a film on Jayalalithaa's life is a big responsibility," he emphasized. Thalaivi will begin rolling post-Diwali this year.
