Kangana-Rajkummar's 'Mental Hai Kya' postponed again: Here's why
Kangana Ranaut impressed everyone with her last release Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi. After basking in the success of Manikarnika, Kangana is gearing up for her next release Mental Hai Kya. The movie, which was initially slated to release in February 2019, was later pushed for a March release. And now some media reports suggest that the movie's release has been postponed again.
It is reported that Mental Hai Kya has been postponed because of Kangana herself as she wanted to take a break before her next release. Notably, Kangana's Manikarnika released on January 25 and she was busy promoting it, till now. If Mental Hai Kya would have released on its scheduled date of March 29, Kangana had to start with the promotions soon after Manikarnika.
"Mental Hai Kya was coming exactly two months after Manikarnika release, which implied that Kangana would have to immediately dive into the film's promotions. She requested the makers for a breather as the period drama had taken a toll on her," a source told Mid-Day.
Interestingly, this is the second time that Mental Hai Kya has been pushed for release. Earlier, the movie was expected to release on February 22. However, the makers chose to postpone it in order to avoid competition with Manikarnika. "It will eat into the collections of Kangana's next film. That's why makers decided to postpone the release to March 29," a source had stated.
The reports further suggested that Mental Hai Kya isn't complete yet as the patchwork shoot is remaining. "Kangana had reassigned some of her dates to Manikarnika since she had to reshoot portions of the period drama," the source added. Reportedly, the makers are now planning to release the movie in May this year. However, they are yet to zero in a date for release.
Apart from Kangana Ranaut, Mental Hai Kya will also star Rajkummar Rao, Amyra Dastur and Satish Kaushik in the lead. The movie will mark Kangana and Rajkummar's reunion after five years. They were last seen in Vikas Bahl's 2014 release Queen. Mental Hai Kya is said to revolve around the complicated relationship of an ex-couple and deals with the sensitive topic of mental health.
