Kantara Chapter 1 unit faces another tragedy
Kalabhavan Niju, well-known in Kerala for his mimicry and acting, sadly passed away from a heart attack while filming Kantara: Chapter 1 in Bengaluru. He was just 43 and had been staying at a homestay when the incident happened. His passing marks the third recent loss from the film's team, following the deaths of actor Rakesh Poojary and junior artist MF Kapil.
Niju's journey from mimicry to films
Starting out with roadshows in Thrissur during the late '90s, Niju built a 25-year career as a mimicry artist before moving into films like Malikappuram and Marco. He landed his role in Kantara: Chapter 1 through auditions—a testament to his talent. The movie itself is a prequel to the popular Kantara and is produced by Hombale Films.
