Legal dispute threatens Chennai airport's PVR INOX multiplex

Chennai airport's PVR INOX multiplex could be forced to close after the Airports Authority of India (AAI) said running cinemas there breaks their rules—even though the theater opened in 2023 with all the needed approvals.
The cinema was set up inside Aerohub with a sub-license from Meenambakkam Realty and had official clearance for movie screenings.

TL;DR

AAI's closure notice and ongoing legal battle

AAI sent a closure notice last July, blaming parking issues and law and order concerns after a visitor's suicide at the complex.
PVR INOX pushed back in court, leading to a Madras High Court order that lets them stay open while AAI reconsiders their plea.
The bigger dispute includes an early end to Aerohub's 15-year contract—originally signed in 2018—which means PVR INOX can still try to keep its screens running as legal battles continue.
