What's the story

Love is in the air in Bollywood as Ranveer Singh married Deepika Padukone while Priyanka Chopra married Nick Jonas. Amidst the flurry of weddings, another relationship is blooming between Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. While the couple has been rather silent about their love, Alia's father, acclaimed director Mahesh Bhatt, spoke about his views on their relationship. Read here to know what he said.

Mahesh Bhatt speaks

Gushing about Ranbir being fantastic

Bhatt spoke candidly about the relationship between Alia and Ranbir. He said it was obvious they were in love, and it did not take a genius to understand that. Furthermore, he spoke about Ranbir, saying how much he loved him and what a great guy he was. Notably, Ranbir's father Rishi Kapoor too expressed how much his wife Neetu and their family loved Alia.

Advice

Reserving advice like a wise parent

Although candid about their relationship, Bhatt was reluctant to give advice to the couple. He believed humans had the intelligence and right to shape their lives and he too lived on those terms, never having taken advice as a youngster. Bhatt said the relationship and marriage were Ranbir and Alia's call, though he raised questions about the institution of marriage in the 21st century.

Comfort is the base of a healthy relationship

While neither Ranbir nor Alia have discussed their relationship in front of the media in great detail, it is evident they do not hide their feelings from each other. Alia's multiple pictures on Instagram with Ranbir show how comfortable she is with him. Notably, Ranbir first publicly acknowledged his relationship with Alia in a GQ magazine interview, earlier this year, thus foregrounding it.

Alia has upcoming projects Takht and Kalank with mentor Karan Johar besides Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy. Ranbir, on the other hand, has Shamshera lined up with Yash Raj Films. Notably, the two are also slated to appear together in Ayan Mukherji's fantasy trilogy titled Brahmastra.
