The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) reported that the charges were filed in Nova Scotia provincial court on October 2. The alleged incident occurred in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, on December 30, 2017. Per CBC, "Smith has been ordered not to communicate with the alleged victim or visit their school, workplace, or home."
