MrBeast-Amazon sued for harassment, wage theft by 'Beast Games' contestants
Popular YouTuber MrBeast and e-commerce giant Amazon have been slapped with a potential class-action lawsuit by contestants of the upcoming Beast Games show. The lawsuit, filed on September 16 in LA Superior Court, accuses the defendants of subjecting the contestants to "unreasonable, unsafe, and unlawful employment conditions." The allegations include sexual harassment, failure to prevent harassment, false advertising, and failure to pay minimum wage or overtime.
'Contestants hospitalized due to unsafe conditions...'
The lawsuit claims that the unsafe and unlawful conditions led to several contestants being hospitalized. The complaint also alleges that Beast Games, which is reportedly budgeted at a staggering $100M, manipulated the rules to secure Nevada tax credits. The suit claims that the defendants made "Plaintiffs and the Proposed Class to enter into illegal contracts and providing false information to the State of Nevada."
Contestants suffered physical, mental complications: Lawsuit
The lawsuit further alleges that the five unnamed contestants who filed the complaint suffered physical and mental complications due to chronic mistreatment, degradation, and hostile working conditions. The complaint states that the defendants exercised total control over the contestants' work by controlling every aspect of their lives during the show's production. The lawsuit also claims that the defendants were fully aware of the alleged violence and sexual harassment on Beast Games but took no action.
'Beast Games' to premiere exclusively on Prime Video
Beast Games is set to become the "biggest reality competition series ever" with 1,000 contestants competing for a $5M cash prize. The show, which is still in production, is set to premiere exclusively later this year or in early 2025 on Amazon Prime Video domestically and internationally. Despite the serious allegations made in the lawsuit, neither MrBeast nor Amazon have issued any statement.
