'Ms. Marvel': Catch 6 highlights from episode 6!
Disney+ Hotstar dropped the sixth and final episode of the Marvel series—Ms. Marvel—on Wednesday. Over the course of the series, we've found out about the protagonist Kamala Khan's (Iman Vellani) origins and her superpowers. But in typical Marvel fashion, Season 1 of Ms. Marvel put many things in perspective and also left us with many questions. Let's go over some highlights from episode 6.
In the previous episodes, we saw Khan (Vellani) receiving bits of her original Marvel Comics costume like the scarf gifted by Kareem (Aramis Knight) and the jacket from Waleed (Farhan Akhtar). This time, Khan's mother, who knows that her daughter has superpowers, gifted her a full costume that incorporated her mask, red scarf, and the iconic lightning bolt symbol used for the comic-book character.
With people from Damage Control closing in, Khan, Kamran (Rish Shah), Bruno (Matt Lintz), Nakia (Yasmeen Fletcher), Aamir (Saagar Shaik), and Zoe (Laurel Marsden) headed back to school to help Kamran escape. Although, Aamir (Khan's brother) was just there to chaperone Khan (wasted potential). Amidst all the chaos, Kamran found out that his mother is no more, believing she sacrificed herself for him.
Khan realized that she needed something more to fight the Damage Control team and said her magic word: embiggen, and stretched to double her height! Meanwhile, Kamran got agitated and wanted to take the battle with the Damage Control head on. Khan stopped Kamran from possibly foiling his escape plan and engulfed him in a bubble, creating a path for Kamran to escape.
After the battle and helping Kamran escape, Khan's father had a chat with her and asked her about her superhero name but she hadn't finalized anything. Her father, Yusuf told her that "Kamala" means "perfect" in Arabic. But in Urdu, it means "wonder" or "marvel," thereby getting the name "Ms. Marvel." "I share the same name as Carol freakin' Danvers?" Khan naturally freaked out.
Just as things were getting back to normal after the event, Bruno made a surprising observation about Khan's genes. First off, he told her that Aamir had been wondering if he has powers too. Turns out, he just might! According to Bruno, there is something "off" in Khan's family's genes and they (at least the siblings) can also mutate (?) somehow.
Khan's magical bangle started to illuminate which never really happened before, well, without a reason. When she flicked her wrist to get a better look at it, she got sucked away through her closet door because of some unknown force. When the dust settled, Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) stood up, looking at the room and saying, "Oh no." Oh yes!!
Just after Danvers ended up getting transported to Khan's room from (maybe) another dimension, the screen turned black and flashed the message: "Ms. Marvel will return in The Marvels." This sets up a potential stage for both Khan and Danvers to return in The Marvels.
