India's 1st AI actor Naina debuts in 'Truth & Lies'
What's the story
Naina Avtr, India's first AI actor, has made her acting debut with a micro-drama series titled Truth & Lies. The character was created by Avtr Meta Labs and is designed to combine technology with human storytelling. Avtr's introduction comes after her initial role as an AI influencer. The show is available on her Instagram.
Vision
Avtr aims to redefine AI-led entertainment
Abhishek Razdhan, co-founder and CEO of Avtr Meta Labs, said the concept behind Avtr was to build an AI character that reflects India's storytelling traditions and emotional depth. He said, "What if technology could feel human?" Razdhan called her "the dawn of a new era in entertainment powered by AI."
Character design
Avtr's character development focused on empathy and authenticity
Razdhan emphasized that the team prioritized empathy, authenticity, and relatability over perfection in developing Avtr's character. He said, "India doesn't connect to perfection; it connects to emotion." "So we gave Naina flaws, doubts, humor, and a voice that sounds like she belongs." He described her as "a digital human who feels real, performs like a creator, and evolves like an artist."
Global comparison
Avtr's global comparison and future projects
When asked about comparisons with Hollywood's AI actor Tilly Norwood, Razdhan said they represent different creative philosophies. He described Avtr as "story-first" and built on Indian emotional grammar. On potential collaborations between Avtr and Norwood, he envisioned a story about identity in a synthetic world, something between Her and Black Mirror but with humor, hope, and maybe even a song.
Ethical narrative
Avtr's role in 'Truth & Lies' and ethical considerations
In Truth & Lies, Avtr shares screen space with human actors, a process that Razdhan called technically challenging but creatively fulfilling. He stressed that all narratives involving her are ethically checked for misrepresentation, consent, and misinformation. "AI shouldn't manipulate; it should mirror. Naina's purpose is to spark conversations, not sell illusions," he said.
