Punjabi lyricist Nimma Loharka dies at 48

Nimma Loharka, a well-known Punjabi lyricist (real name Nirmal Singh), passed away recently at age 48 after his health had been deteriorating for the past several days.
His funeral will be held in his native village, Loharka village near Amritsar.
Over his career, he wrote more than 500 songs and helped shape the careers of over 150 singers, making a significant impact on Punjabi music.

Who was Nimma Loharka?

Born in 1977 in Amritsar district, Loharka started writing songs as a kid and got noticed for his lyrics during school.
After finishing school, he moved to Ludhiana to study music and later trained in Bharowal village—home of folk legend Didar Sandhu.
He went on to write for big names like Diljit Dosanjh and Amrinder Gill, with heartfelt tracks like "Dil ditta nai si thokran lawan vaste" earning wide praise.
His legacy lives on through his son, who is also a songwriter.
