Violinist Balabhaskar dies a week after car accident killed daughter
Noted violinist Balabhaskar, who was critically injured in a car accident, died in Thiruvananthapuram today. Balabhaskar's two-year-old daughter, Thejaswani, died in the accident on September 25. His wife, Lakshmi, is undergoing treatment. The family was returning to Thiruvananthapuram from Thrissur after a temple visit when their car rammed a tree near Pallipuram. Balabhaskar's untimely death deeply painful: Kerala CM
Following the mishap, the 40-year-old violinist underwent a surgery and was on ventilator support. He suffered a massive cardiac arrest, after which he passed away at 1am today. After autopsy, his mortal remains were taken to University College campus where Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan and people from various walks of life paid homage to the departed. Vijayan said Balabhaskar's untimely death was "deeply painful".
Balabhaskar began stage shows at the age of 12
Veteran singer KJ Yesudas said Balabhaskar's death was an "irreparable" loss to the music world. He had crooned to Balabhaskar's tune, when the latter was just 17. Music director M Jayachandran said Balabhaskar was a blessed and creative musician. Balabhaskar began his stage shows at the age of 12 and brought out several music albums. The funeral is expected to be held tomorrow.
