Salman, Akshay, trump 'Cap' in Forbes' top-10 highest-paid actors' list

Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar have defeated Captain America, the noblest Avenger, played by Chris Evans, to find a place on Forbes' top 10 list of highest paid actors of 2018. While Akshay took the seventh place with annual earning amounting to $40.5 million, Salman was ensconced at the ninth position with earnings of $38.5 million. While George Clooney topped the list, SRK's name was conspicuously missing.

What Forbes wrote about 'Jaan-e-mann' co-stars Akshay and Salman

About Salman, Forbes wrote he remains one of Bollywood's top earners. His blockbuster 'Tiger Zinda Hai', and brand endorsements were credited to his rise. Heaping praises on Akshay, the magazine wrote he has transitioned to socially-conscious movies like 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha'. "He still mints millions from backend profits and endorsing some 20 brands, including Tata and Eveready," the magazine wrote about Akshay.

Writing on wall: Salman and Akshay mean business for Bollywood

The Forbes list further reiterates what's already known. In terms of stardom and bankability, there is no match for Salman and Akshay. Their releases draw huge crowds, their fans' loyalty is unquestionable, and this, in turn, implies they bring money to Bollywood.

Despite no movie releases, Clooney tops list

George Clooney, who didn't even have one release during the period (June 1, 2017, and June 1, 2018), topped the list. All because of his successful businesses. For $700 million, Diageo purchased Casamigos, the tequila company Clooney and his friends cofounded. The second spot was taken by Dwayne Johnson with earnings of $119 million, and eighth by Adam Sandler ($39.5 million).

Three Avengers make it to top 10 highest-paid actors

Three Avengers- Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans also made it to the list. While reel Tony Stark took the third spot by earning $79 million, Thor and Captain America were at fourth and tenth positions respectively by earning $64.5 million and $34 million. With earning of $45.5 million, Jackie Chan was given fifth position, and Will Smith sixth as he earned $42 million.
