The source further revealed that three female actors will be cast to play Shantaram's wives in the biopic. The filmmaker was married thrice: first to Vimla, then to actor Jayashree, and finally to Sandhya. Fondly called Annasaheb, Shantaram passed away at 88 on October 30, 1990, in Mumbai. He is survived by his three wives and seven children. He was known for classic films like Do Aankhen Barah Haath, Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baaje, and Navrang.
