Sonam Kapoor's father-in-law buys ₹231cr London property for her, Anand
Bollywood actor Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and her husband Anand Ahuja are all set to move into a new house in London's Notting Hill district. The property, worth £21M (around ₹231.47 crore) reportedly, was recently purchased by Ahuja's father Harish Ahuja, the owner of Shahi Exports Pvt. According to a Bloomberg report, this deal is among the biggest residential transactions in the UK this year.
Property to be redeveloped before the pair moves in
The property, an eight-story residential convent, was acquired by Harish in July. It spans 20,000 square feet and is located in the plush area near Kensington Gardens. The property was previously owned by a UK-registered charity and religious order. Kapoor Ahuja and Ahuja plan to occupy a portion of the property after its redevelopment. The remaining section is expected to be transformed into flats.
Celeb couple's marriage and life in London
Kapoor Ahuja and Ahuja tied the knot in 2018 after dating for several years. They welcomed their son Vayu in August 2022. Since her marriage, Kapoor Ahuja has been living part-time in London, while also spending a significant portion of the year in Mumbai. In a recent interview with Architectural Digest India, she gave a tour of her "maximalist" Mumbai home and shared her initial hesitation about relocating from Notting Hill to Mumbai.
Ahuja family's business ventures
Harish's wealth is derived from Shahi Exports, one of India's largest garment manufacturing firms. The company, as per Fitch Ratings, caters to major international brands such as Uniqlo, Decathlon, and H&M. It operates over 50 factories and employs more than a staggering 1,00,000 workers. Ahuja, a director at Shahi Exports, also manages his own retail company. Meanwhile, Kapoor Ahuja—who was last seen in Blind (2023)—will be starting a new project in 2025.
