Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is set to make a special appearance as a police officer in the highly-anticipated Tamil film Jailer 2, starring Rajinikanth. The news was first reported by IANS, which stated that only Khan's scenes are left to be shot, and he will begin filming his portions this month. The actor's role is said to be an extended cameo.

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 is expected to be packed with action and entertainment, just like its predecessor, which was a blockbuster hit. The first part of the franchise grossed ₹604cr worldwide, per Sacnilk. The movie's overseas distributor, Ayngaran International, confirmed that it earned a whopping ₹33cr on its opening day, marking the highest opening in superstar Rajinikanth's career.

Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music for the sequel.
