The incident took place at their home in Blairstown, New Jersey, on Tuesday morning (local time). According to reports from WFMZ and Ridge View Echo, the New Jersey State Police were called to respond to a residential fire with possible entrapment shortly before 1:00am.

When the police arrived, they found Avery's home on Mohican Road engulfed in flames. Firefighters entered the house and found two people in critical condition. Both Avery and Sheila were unconscious and were given CPR, but unfortunately, both died shortly after being rescued from their home.
