Here's how 'Uri' beat 'Dangal', 'Baahubali 2' record
Vicky Kaushal's Uri: The Surgical Strike is doing an incredible business at the box office. The movie entered the prestigious Rs. 100 crore club after 10 days of release and has minted Rs. 108.90 crore so far. As Uri continues its winning streak at the box office, it has uniquely beaten two of Bollywood's biggest releases, Aamir Khan's Dangal and Prabhas' Baahubali 2.
Uri is based on Indian Army's surgical strike on Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in 2016. Given the strong storyline, the movie opened to rave reviews from audience and critics alike. Vicky's performance wowed the viewers and so did the camerawork. Notably, the Aditya Dhar-directorial not only got a stronghold at the box office but it's also setting new benchmarks with its stupendous collection.
Interestingly, Uri witnessed an increase in its collections in the second week. Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh pointed out the movie has surpassed the expectations at the box office. Uri minted more money during the second weekend as compared to the first weekend. "Wreaks havoc at the BO. Weekend 2 [Rs. 37.96 cr] is higher than Weekend 1 [Rs. 35.73 cr]," Taran tweeted.
Notably, Dangal and Baahubali 2 were among the highest grossers of Bollywood in the last three years with their lifetime collection of Rs. 387.38 crore and 510.99 crore respectively. However, despite their monstrous collections, Uri managed to beat the record of both Dangal and Baahubali 2. Reportedly, Uri is the only Bollywood movie which scored more in the second weekend than in first.
Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam are on cloud nine after the humongous success of Uri. They expressed their gratitude towards the audience. Vicky stated that after all the hard work what matters is the love of the audience which makes it worth all effort. Yami said, "Success is not final; failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts !! Thanks."
