Shooting for 'Shakuntala Devi biopic' begins, first teaser poster unveiled
After tasting magnificent success with Mission Mangal, Vidya Balan has now begun shooting for her next, Shakuntala Devi - Human Computer. The actress also unveiled a teaser poster of the movie, and captioned it as, "She was extraordinary, in every sense of the word!" In the film, Vidya plays the titular character, and the first look has her flaunting a bob cut.
To note, Shakuntala Devi was a child prodigy and was known for her incredibly swift calculations. The teaser poster also gives us a glimpse of her brilliance, as it shows how she began solving complex mathematical problems at a really tender age. It defines Shakuntala as "sharp, arrogant, eccentric, ruthless, witty, outspoken and Ma Genius," before unveiling Vidya's look from the movie.

According to media reports, the movie will hit the floors today, and will be shot in London. Needless to say, Vidya is excited to essay the role of "the human computer" on the big screen. The Parineeta actress had earlier admitted that "her (Shakuntala's) magnetic personality and the life that she led," were the reasons why she gave a nod to the movie.
"She was truly someone who embraced her individuality, had a strong feminist voice and braved many naysayers to reach the pinnacle of success. But what fascinates me is that you wouldn't normally associate a fun person with math, she completely turns that perception," Vidya added.
Helmed by Anu Menon, Shakuntala Devi's biopic will be bankrolled by Vikram Malhotra. Talking about the movie, Menon told Mid-Day, "I have always been fascinated by Shakuntala Devi and felt that hers is an incredible story that had to be told"." Shakuntala Devi - Human Computer, which was announced this May, is slated to hit the theaters in summer next year.
