Who owns Zubeen Garg's music? Manager reveals

Entertainment

Following Zubeen Garg's recent passing in Singapore, his manager Siddhartha Sharma has addressed questions about who owns the late singer's music.
Sharma explained that most of Garg's massive catalog—over 38,000 songs—is actually owned by music companies and production houses, not by Garg himself.
For these works, Garg received one-time payments rather than ongoing royalties.

Sharma reassures fans, shares updates on investigation

To clear up rumors of financial exploitation, Sharma shared that Garg set up Zubeen Garg Music LLP in 2021 to control his future releases; about 20 songs came out under this venture.
Royalties from the Indian Performing Right Society (IPRS) for his work as a composer and lyricist always went straight to his account and now go to his wife Garima.
Sharma also reassured fans he's working closely with investigators and is focused on honoring Zubeen's legacy: "I consider it my duty to ensure that his family rightfully inherits this stake."
