Will Jessica Alba reprise her 'Fantastic Four' role in MCU
Jessica Alba, who portrayed Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman in the 2005 and 2007 Fantastic Four films, has expressed her willingness to reprise her role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). This development comes after Chris Evans, who played Johnny Storm/The Human Torch in the same films, made a surprise cameo as his character in the recently-released Deadpool & Wolverine.
Alba's enthusiasm for Marvel return
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Alba shared her enthusiasm about potentially reprising her role as Sue Storm. "Yeah, of course. I loved playing that character," the 43-year-old actor said. "[I'd be open to] anything in the Marvel universe. I'm a fan of all the superhero stories, and it was a great time in my life. So yeah, if they would have me, sure."
Alba's 'Fantastic Four' journey
Alba starred alongside Evans, Ioan Gruffudd (Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic), Michael Chiklis (Ben Grimm/ The Thing), and Julian McMahon (Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom) in the two Fantastic Four films. In 2015, a reboot of the franchise was released with Kate Mara taking over Alba's role. The Fantastic Four characters are now part of the MCU following Disney's acquisition of Fox Studios.
Upcoming 'Fantastic Four' film in MCU
Marvel is set to introduce a new iteration of the Fantastic Four in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, slated for a 2025 release. The film will feature Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach in the lead roles. Marvel chief Kevin Feige described The Fantastic Four: First Steps as a "period film" on The Official Marvel Podcast.
