31 Maoists arrested in Andhra Pradesh after deadly encounter

India

Andhra Pradesh police and Octopus commandos just arrested 31 suspected Maoists and their supporters, who had been hiding out as migrant workers.
This crackdown followed a recent encounter that left six Maoists dead, including top commander Madvi Hidma and his wife.
The arrests happened across Vijayawada, Krishna, and NTR districts.

How the operation unfolded

After his death in the recent encounter, police also picked up nine former guards of CPI (Maoist) General Secretary Thippiri Tirupathi.
Most arrests came from a raid on a four-storey building in Vijayawada—though some suspects managed to escape.
Officers seized diaries with names and phone numbers of people who sheltered the group, but no weapons were found.

What happens next

With pressure mounting on Maoist groups nearby, Andhra Pradesh is now on high alert to stop any more infiltration or regrouping attempts.
Security teams are sweeping for remaining networks to keep things under control.
