6 killed after fire erupts in building in Delhi's Palam

The Delhi Police said that six people have died after a fire broke out in a residential building in southwest Delhi's Palam area on Wednesday morning. The fire broke out in a multi-story residential building near Shri Ram Chowk, close to the Palam Metro station in southwest Delhi. The incident was reported around 7:00am. In response to the emergency, nearly 30 fire tenders were dispatched to the scene for firefighting and rescue operations.

Dozen people feared trapped inside building
Delhi Fire Services officials are still working on the firefighting and rescue operations. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest), Amit Goel, said nearly a dozen people are feared to be trapped inside the building. "The firefighting operation is still on," DCP Goel said, adding that police personnel are assisting firefighters in their efforts.
