After Diwali, Delhi's PM2.5 drops to 82ug/m3

India

After Diwali, Delhi's PM2.5 pollution levels plunged from a massive 675ug/m3 at midnight to 82ug/m3 by Tuesday afternoon.
The spike came from firecracker smoke mixing with still air, but a shift in wind direction finally helped clear things up.

Air still 'very poor'

Even with the sharp drop, PM2.5 stayed above the safe limit, and the air quality index hovered around 350—still "very poor."
Fewer stubble fires this year and faster wind changes helped, but breathing the air remains risky for your lungs and heart, especially right after the celebrations.
