Allahabad High Court stays 6.41cr demand on Saharanpur mosque management
The Allahabad High Court has put a hold on the demand for ₹6.41 crore from the Saharanpur mosque management, just days after the mosque was demolished under an eviction order.
The stay came on September 11, 2026, as part of an ongoing legal battle over whether the demolition and hefty damages were justified.
The next court hearing is set for October.
State disputes Saharanpur waqf claim
The main issue is who actually owns the land: the petitioner/advocate Mohammad Tanveer Ahmad says it belongs to Wahid Khan and Yaqub Khan and shows waqf registration, while state officials insist it's government property with some questionable ownership records.
There's also debate about whether proper waqf documents exist and why the Sunni Central Waqf Board wasn't involved in earlier proceedings.
For now, both sides have argued their positions, and we'll have to wait for the court's final call.
