Amit Shah's panel clears ₹4,645cr climate disaster fund

India

Amit Shah's high-level committee just approved a huge ₹4,645.6 crore boost to help nine states tackle disasters linked to climate change.
The money, from the National Disaster Mitigation Fund, will support Assam, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh.

Funding goes beyond quick fixes

This funding isn't just about quick fixes—it's backing major projects like Assam's ₹692 crore plan to restore 24 wetlands for better flood control and healthier ecosystems.
Plus, 11 big cities (think Bhopal and Guwahati) will get upgraded flood management systems.
With over ₹4,400 crore also going out to 21 other states for disaster readiness, it shows the government is getting serious about helping communities bounce back from climate shocks, a growing concern in recent years.
