Andhra: YSRCP leader arrested in spurious liquor case

India

Jogi Ramesh, ex-Andhra Pradesh minister and YSR Congress Party leader, was arrested after being linked to a spurious liquor racket.
The SIT raided his home and picked up both him and his aide, following a confession by the main accused that claimed Ramesh gave financial and political support for illegal liquor production.

Ramesh denies charges, offers to take lie detector test

Ramesh has firmly denied all charges—he's even offered to take a lie detector test and wants the CBI to investigate, saying this is all politically motivated.
His party chief called the arrest a distraction tactic by the current government.
Meanwhile, police have seized huge illegal liquor stashes as part of their ongoing probe, while political tensions in Andhra Pradesh keep rising with both sides trading accusations.
