What's the story

Ace filmmaker Anurag Kashyap is worried for his daughter after she received rape threats from someone who claimed to be Prime Minister Narendra Modi's follower. Taking to Twitter, Kashyap congratulated PM Modi for the historic win in Lok Sabha elections but urged him to do something against vile attacks. Soon, he got into a war of words with filmmaker Ashoke Pandit. Here's what happened.

Kahsyap sent best wishes to PM Modi with a complaint

After PM Modi registered a historic win in Lok Sabha polls, the congratulatory messages followed. From world leaders to people of film fraternity, everyone gave the BJP leader their best wishes. Kashyap too joined the bandwagon but he had other things on mind. Sharing a screenshot of an Instagram comment, Kashyap asked PM Modi how he should deal with those threatening his daughter Aaliya.

Later, Pandit claimed the handle was fake

No sooner had Kashyap tweeted the abusive message that Pandit slammed him. Pandit wrote, "This twitter handle seems to be photoshopped because it doesn't exist. Seems to be created by an #UrbanNaxal to give an opportunity to somebody to abuse #Modi when the entire World is happy. (sic)" Not being the one to remain quiet, Kashyap told Pandit to check his facts.

But Pandit didn't stop at that. He told Kashyap to read his next tweet. "Let's file a complaint with the police and get him arrested than asking the PM what to do. I am sure you know that law enforcing agencies exist in this country of ours," he added. In yet another tweet, Pandit asked the police to take action against the Instagram account.

Meanwhile, many celebrities passed their best wishes to PM Modi

Kashyap has been one of the loudest critics of PM Modi. Just a month ago, he shared a 'Vote For Modi' WhatsApp message and called it "self-explanatory". Apart from Kashyap, several Bollywood celebrities like Shabana Azmi, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Ekta Kapoor, and Sonam Kapoor congratulated PM Modi on the astonishing victory. Notably, BJP won 295 seats and could touch 302-mark this time.
