A.P. experiences 37.5% rainfall deficit in early June

India

Andhra Pradesh is dealing with a major rain deficit—down 37.5% from what's normal for June so far, even though the monsoon arrived early this year.
The state got just 47.9mm of rain instead of the usual 76.6mm between June 1 and 21, leaving much of the region drier than expected.

Most districts running dry; Palnadu shows 67.7% shortfall

Out of all districts, just five—including Eluru and Anantapur—managed to get normal rainfall, while the rest are running dry. Palnadu district stands out with a huge 67.7% shortfall.
Even though forecasters had hoped for above-average rain this month, that hasn't panned out yet.
Looking ahead, weather experts say Andhra Pradesh will likely stay mostly dry until at least June 26—and temperatures could keep soaring past 40°C, with only occasional storms offering brief relief.
